High School has been so fun so far. People always say that it is one of the funnest times of your life besides college! Also, a lot of people told me freshmen year was extremely easy... Which i do not necessarily agree with. I love all my teachers this year, which is a big step-up from last year because last year I really didn't like my teachers that much. But my teachers aren't the only thing, last year, I didn't really work very hard but this year I have given my all in everything I have done. My grades have improved tremendously and I am way happier. To be honest, I have no idea what the motivation was to make me work harder but it was something! I think it could possibly be the fear of being kicked off the cheer squad, or not getting into a college that I really want to go to. I am just constantly inspired to work hard because I am surrounded by so many hard working people that have such high aspirations.
But High School isn't all about work! We have parties, homecoming and Sadies and so many other things. There is also the opportunity to do sports or other extracurricular activities. This year I choose to do fall cheerleading and Winter/spring track. And I will most likely be doing these for the next 3 years. They were so fun. I made a lot of new friendships, got fit, and improved on my skills a lot! I absolutely love it. So putting aside all the work and late nighters and even the occasional drama between friends, high school has been an amazing experience and eye-opener. I have learned so much, not only academic wise but also in study skills. I look forward to all the other experiences and friendships I will make over the next 3 years!
Emily, I agree with you that high school is definitely a big step up from middle school, but it is also very fun too! I have become motivated to do my best for many of the same reasons as you. I like how you included the school part of high school, and the fun parts too, to show a different perspective.
ReplyDeleteEmily I love this post! I know I'm not in your class and probably shouldn't comment on this {sorry Dr.D!} but I simply MUST! I'm so glad you're motivated and I agree with all of your points.
