Recently, we've been doing a research paper in English and History class. We did all the research in History and now we are writing it in English. When we started, I thought my topic was pretty good and clever, so I stuck with it! Well, about a week ago, I wasn't feeling the same about my topic as I was when we started. I was struggling to get relevant research and I just wasn't really grasping the different things we needed to do for this paper. After talking to my teachers last week, I think I finally have a very good understanding of what I need to do.
In class, and at home we have been told to work on an outline, and try to do a detailed one too. This weekend I tried to make mine as detailed as possible. I'm not quite sure if it is perfect but I tried to make it pretty detailed. I also did some more research on my topic and created a couple new noodle tools cards. I think I might finally have all the research need! I also looked at my thesis a little, but I seemed to struggle a little bit with it so I decided that might need to focus on it a little more and even go see my teacher. Other than that, this paper is going pretty well!

New York
This past summer, I went to New York for the first time. It was my favorite place i've ever traveled to! I absolutely loved it there. The previous summer, I went to Los Angeles, California and loved it there too but it didn't beat New York. When we were in New York, we did so many things. My family and I went to the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building, the Metropolitan Museum, shopped on 5th avenue and so much more. Each experience was amazing and so fun. When we went to the Statue of Liberty, I listened to a recording of the history of the statue, so I actually learned a lot. Then one night at about 10 we went to the Empire State Building and got to walk around at the very top and we rode a simulator ride that gave us a tour of New York. It was so cool!
On those days when it was more laid back and relaxed we would go to breakfast, shop all day then go back to the hotel and get ready for dinner; and 2 of the nights, we went to see Broadway plays! We saw "Spider Man in the Dark" and "Wicked." They were the best plays I have ever seen! Not only were the actors amazing but the feel of being in an old timey theater seeing a Broadway play was awesome. At the end of every day, I would come back to my hotel room and crash and sleep all night because I was so exhausted from walking around all day. We were there for 1 week and I didn't want to leave when that week came to an end. The food was amazing, the shopping was great and I just love big cities! It was my kind of vacation. When we got back in Baton Rouge, it was so different; not walking everywhere, not seeing the tall buildings, not seeing all the taxis and my favorite, not seeing the New York lights at nighttime. I love that place so much and I can not wait to go back!

The Hunger Games
Yes I know, I am a little late on reading the Hunger Games... Everyone read them like 3 years ago, but that's not stopping me. A while back, I started reading this thrilling fictional novel. I passed my 150 minutes long ago, but I just couldn't put it down. It never gets boring and there is always some sort of action going on. So far, I haven't run into any low points that are so boring that I actually zone out; and I doubt I will because with this plot, I don't know how it could possibly get boring!
In this past reading I did, I learned about Avoxes which are criminals who have had their tounges cut and basically become servants. The main character, Katniss, talks about an encounter with the Avox, so to me, I am lead to believe that Avoxes will have another part of the story and they will most likely come up again later. Also, I read about the training of the tributes and a lot of surprising things happened that I was deffiniteley not expecting, for example, Petta asking to train privately. That was a big surprise because he was the one who was laying on the charm and trying to be all lovey-dovey and friendly with his partner that he would soon be fighting to the death. This book is so thrilling and exciting! I can't wait to continue on and read the other 2 books.

A Wish Upon a Star for Summer Time
Ahhh, sweet summertime. I don't know whats gotten into me lately, but I am craving summer! All over pinterest I see pictures of swimsuits, and bleach blond hair, and shorts and tank tops and all this summer stuff and it just makes me miss summer like crazy! Every summer is amazing for me because at the beginning of the summer, I go to Point Clear which is a beach in alabama. My family goes along with 5 or 6 other families that we are friends with and we stay for a week. It is the funnest thing ever! This summer I am particularly excited because I will get to see 2 of my close friends that moved this year. One of them is named Courtney McCown. I have been best friends with this girl since kindergarden and she moved to Fairhope, Alabama this year, which is basically at Point Clear! Also, my friend Austin Stewart who I have also known since kindergarden will be there, and he moved all the way to California! When I see them, its going to be so great to be reunited with old friends that are just so fun to hang out with! After Point Clear, I come home and go to Camp Ozark which is probably the greatest place on earth. This summer will be my sixth year and I can't even stand to think about it because I get so excited! I go for 2 weeks, and normally I go with about 3 or 4 people from home but I leave having met around 100 people. I have met so many amazing people there, I just love it so much.
After camp, we do something different every summer. We normally end up going to the beach 3 times and sometimes we go somewhere fun like California, New York, Washington, Disney World, or sometimes out of the country. Every summer is different but they all have one thing in common, they are all so fun and amazing. On those days when I get to be at home and I'm not traveling, I sleep until 12, go to the CCL pool when I finally wake up, get together with friends and then go back to sleep. I guess that's what I'm missing the most right now, sleep. This summer I have no idea what we are doing other than Point Clear and Camp but I know whatever it is, it'll be amazing. I think that since this was my first year in high school, I am going to be ready to get out of school and quit doing all the work and just enjoy myself.

Reading Response
I've been reading the Hunger Games for a while now. I am not the best reader, or maybe i should say i'm not the best at reading a book continuously. But this book has kept me rolling. It is very difficult to put down because of it's thrilling plot. I'm not sure if you've read it or not but its basically about a world where 2 teenagers from each district are picked and forced to go and fight to the death for food. This takes place during a time or world hunger so it is a big deal to win these games. the main character is chosen and has to go fight. I am at the beginning of the story so right now she is being prepared and trained to go and fight. I think that this is such an amazing story line because it is just so unique! There are 2 more books in the series and I can't wait to read those as well. Since I am towards the beginning of the book, I don't have any predictions or really many thoughts on what could happen.
Besides all of the reading I've been doing, I have been working really hard on My literary analysis paper. All I can really sum it up to is one word, wow. It has been a lot of work! We've been working on it since about a week or so before thanksgiving break I believe. I remember when we first read the literary analysis on A&P I had no idea what in the world was going on and it wasn't only until a few weeks ago when I finally understood it... I know that might sound bad but this was very difficult for me to understand. But the important thing is that I understand it now. I have come a long way since the first time we wrote our thesis statement on the index card. I have revised and even rewritten my paper and right now, I finally feel like I have finally gotten my paper to a point where I am very happy with it. This is something that I really think I am going to be very proud of in the end. I can't wait to see the final product.

High School
High School has been so fun so far. People always say that it is one of the funnest times of your life besides college! Also, a lot of people told me freshmen year was extremely easy... Which i do not necessarily agree with. I love all my teachers this year, which is a big step-up from last year because last year I really didn't like my teachers that much. But my teachers aren't the only thing, last year, I didn't really work very hard but this year I have given my all in everything I have done. My grades have improved tremendously and I am way happier. To be honest, I have no idea what the motivation was to make me work harder but it was something! I think it could possibly be the fear of being kicked off the cheer squad, or not getting into a college that I really want to go to. I am just constantly inspired to work hard because I am surrounded by so many hard working people that have such high aspirations.
But High School isn't all about work! We have parties, homecoming and Sadies and so many other things. There is also the opportunity to do sports or other extracurricular activities. This year I choose to do fall cheerleading and Winter/spring track. And I will most likely be doing these for the next 3 years. They were so fun. I made a lot of new friendships, got fit, and improved on my skills a lot! I absolutely love it. So putting aside all the work and late nighters and even the occasional drama between friends, high school has been an amazing experience and eye-opener. I have learned so much, not only academic wise but also in study skills. I look forward to all the other experiences and friendships I will make over the next 3 years!

Pintrest
- About 2 months ago, one of my friends, Melissa, told me about this website called pintrest. Since then, I have literally been obsessed over this extremely addictive but pointless website. Basically, you create categorized boards and pin things that fall under those categories to the board. My categories consist of "the day i wear white," "Beauty," "Fashion&Style," "FAB," "The higher the heal, the closer to heaven," "Beauty secrets," and "Food&Recepies." I know, I have a lot of boards... I'm extremely addicted! It is probably the most entertaining thing to do on the computer.
- I pretty much have my entire wedding planned out on here. Also I have a whole list of clothes I want to get and beauty products I feel are necessary! Not only have I been very entertained by all these beautiful clothes and shoes, I've also found many different DIY's (do it yourself) crafts that I would like to do! Everything from making bags to making your own nail polish, all the way to making your own home made bathtub crayons. How cool is that? Me and my fellow pintrest friends have decided we won't be getting bored for a while because we will be stuck doing these DIY's at home! I love pintrest so much, and i strongly recommend it to anyone that likes to be organized and have everything planned out.
